Yoga is an individual practice that meets people where their body is at. Your version of the pose may/will look different than the person next to you…and that’s ok! Focus on what feels good and right in your body and watch as you slowly go deeper into the poses as you attend more classes. Remember that yoga is a PRACTICE and that’s what we’re here to do.

Class Etiquette:

  • No shoes in the classroom; socks are ok for some parts of the class.
  • Bring your own mat and lay it out when you get to class
  • You must be courteous, respectful, and polite to all officials, hosts, teachers, and coaches. It’s important to be on your best behavior.

What do we focus on?

  • Moving in and out of poses safely
  • Focusing on how poses feel in our body
  • Keeping a slow steady breath while moving through poses
  • Learning how to isolate and engage muscle groups to support ourselves in the poses
  • Learning how we can use our breath to reduce stress and focus our minds

What should you wear?

  • Comfortable clothes that are easy to move in
  • Those with long hair may want to tie it back (optional but recommended)

What should you bring?

  • Yoga mat
  • Whatever you need to feel comfortable for the rest (savasana): ex. blanket, socks, toque, and eye coverings.
  • Water bottle
